ˇBorn in London, Ontario, Canada - November, 1948
ˇMarried with 2 teenaged sons
ˇProfessional Artist since 1978 specializing in wood sculptures of birds

My sculptures draw upon the activity of birds to create metaphor for our instinctive struggles in life. Each work is a unique design, dynamically representing an event to be seen in the round, created to reveal many layers, and dimensions of individual character in implied space"

Style:

Interprative realism - I will change the proportions or other aspects of the birds in my carvings if I feel that it suits the narrative that is included in the piece. I cannot obtain the exact colors of the birds in any event because colors of wood do not come in the exact shades that the birds are in. This allows me to be more interpretive in other areas as well. After a finish is applied to the piece it becomes a wood carving, which is what my clients are currently looking for.

Media:

Mixed woods - every color change in my pieces is a different piece of wood. there are approximatly seven different species being used at this time each species being a different color.

Preferred species:
Raptors - They are more alive and can be used easily in the narratives that are set up in the carvings. The passeriforms are very non-descript without proper coloration.
Preferred geographic region:
I prefer North America, but there is real interest in some of the tropical species.
Preferred use of earlier or new work:
I have earlier work available right now, but what I really enjoy doing is sight specific commissions.
