Resigned from course directorship of Fine Art Degree in 1980. Exhibited regularly in UK and USA. Selected for the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's "Birds in Art" exhibitions (including traveling shows) in 1994 and 1997. Society of Wild Life Artists, London, most years since 1985; British Houses of Parliament 1983 and 1985; and have work in notable collections in the UK and 17 other countries. Illustrated (and occasionally written) several publications in UK and USA. Currently working on two books about my work. Received the Millennium Fellowship awarded by Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland for the "the British Galapagos", a study of seabird colonies on coast of Northumberland and South East Scotland, 2002/3. Featured in the "Artist's Magazine" (USA) Sept. 2002; 6-page coverage in "Pratique des Arts" (France, early in 2003); Subject of Border TV "Trailblazing" program Jan/Feb 2003. Included in "Who's Who in Ornithology" (Buckingham Press, U) 1997. It is with great sadness that we note the death of Derick Watson in 2004. |
