The artist noted in the 2006 Birds in Art catalog: "When my grandfather bought a farm back in the forties in West Shefford, now Bromont, Canada everything was farmland. I live in this general vicinity, and while walking in the hills near my home, I came across these old carcasses in the middle of the woods. Laid to rest at the end of a field many years ago, they witnessed the trees taking over an abandoned farm. These woods are now home to a growing number of Wild Turkeys. Today a new chapter is starting as a few hundred yards from the old cars, condominiums are being built. The story continues."
